IS series convertible coming soon!
Lexus today revealed a four-seater convertible version of its IS sedan at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. Lexus says the retractable hard-top convertible, based on styling of the IS luxury sport sedans, the IS 250C and IS 350C will come to Canada in the late spring of 2009. Featuring a three-panel roof that opens in 21 seconds, the IS 250C and 350C will share the hood, headlamps, door handles and mirrors of the IS sedans, but all other body panels have been designed to blend seamlessly with the new three-panel aluminum folding roof. The new drop top will be powered by the same powertrains as the IS sedans. The IS 250C features a 2.5 litre, 204 hp V6 mated to a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission; the IS 350C contains a 3.5 litre, 306 hp with a six-speed automatic. Revisions to the body structure and suspension provide torsional stiffness and ride comfort with the top down, and low Lexus-like Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) on par with the IS sedan when in coupe configuration. The three-panel roof structure is completely constructed of lightweight aluminum that helps achieve smooth, quiet retraction, Lexus said, leading to gentler closings and adequate trunk space with room for one golf bag. Aerodynamic efficiencies help the car achieve a low 0.29 coefficient of drag versus the IS sedan's 0.27 while creating minimal wind turbulence on the cabin. An acoustic glass windshield, along with optimized seals on the roof, door and window panels, contribute to lower wind-noise levels.

Regency Nissan Delivers 4 GT-RRRR
August 12th, 2008 marks a milestone in Regency Nissan's 25 year history! The Nissan GT-R, supercar with pedigree that date back to 1969, finally arrives in our showroom. The original Nissan GT-R was developed as a high performance model of the Skyline in Japan. This all-wheel drive turbocharged sedan broke records that astounded high performance manufacturers. The first four owners of RegencyAuto's allocated GT-Rs have waited a long time for this show stopping vehicle and now are discovering the continent. We at Regency thank them for their patience and support and look forward to hearing their stories. Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson commented... "Does the Nissan's ability reduce the driving pleasure? Not at all. You can turn all the systems off if you so choose, and it's still supremely well balanced, no doubt a delight for a racing driver on a track." (Jeremy Clarkson has driven the most exotic and best cars in the world: Bugatti Veyron, Koenigsegg CCX, Ultima GT-R, Ferrari Enzo, Lamborghini Murcialago LP640, Porsche Carerra GT, Porsche GT-3 RS, Ferrari F430 Scuderia, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, etc...) Regency Auto Group's president states that Regency Nissan will not be a part of a program that charges over MSRP for this rare gem.

Toyota to have hybrid in each of its product lines by 2020
Advanced powertrain program manager Justin Ward says that Toyota is really confident that it will have hybrid models in each of its product lines by 2020. The Japanese automaker, which has sold more than 1 million hybrids, estimated that it has saved 7 million tons of carbon dioxide. Currently Toyota has three hybrid models in its lineup including the Toyota Prius, Toyota Camry Hybrid and the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. It will reveal the next-generation Toyota Prius at that 2009 Detroit auto show followed by a plug-in version of the Prius in early 2011 that will be powered by lithium-ion batteries. It was recently reported that Toyota will drop plans to produce the Supra and FJ Cruiser from its product plans and will concentrate on a hybrid version of the Venza crossover and Sienna minivan - both expected to arrive in 2012. A dedicated Lexus hybrid model will also make its debut at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show.

Confusion surrounds car dealer deposits.
Deceptive deposit-taking practices at B.C. car dealers have prompted regulators to issue a new directive explaining dealers' obligations. "A quarter of the consumer complaints we investigate deal with deposit issues," Motor Vehicle Sales Authority of B.C. deputy registrar Ian Christman said in an interview. "Most dealers want to do the right thing, but some try to avoid [provincial regulations] and that's what we're concerned about." Christman said his office has investigated 262 complaints in the past year because of confusion surrounding deposits taken for motor-vehicle purchases.
